Born in Surrey, Marcus Brigstocke, 51, was the winner of the BBC New Comedy Award in 1996. He is a regular on BBC Radio 4 programmes I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and Just a Minute and he hosts a podcast called How Was It For You? with his wife Rachel Parris. Next month, he starts a UK tour of his new show, Vitruvian Mango. He has three children and lives in London.

When were you happiest?
Every morning when I go into our three-year-old’s room. He’s so happy to see you, it’s a moment of heaven.

What is your greatest fear?
It used to be loneliness, and it might still be.

Describe yourself in three words
Big. Funny. Man.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I’ve been overweight and then lost weight loads of times – the top of my thighs have suffered.

If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?
Dodos. I bet they’re delicious.

What is your most unappealing habit?
I fart a lot.

Who is your celebrity crush?
Robert Smith.

Which book are you ashamed to have not read?
Absolutely none. I’ve had three run-ups at Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and I conclude it must be boring because I’ve never finished it.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
I sometimes have astonishingly long baths – we’re talking two hours plus.

What do you owe your parents?
I’ve been in recovery for various addictions all my adult life. I had an eating disorder from the age of 10 followed by drug and alcohol dependency. My parents didn’t understand a lot of what was happening, but they always showed up.

To whom would you most like to say sorry, and why?
My wife, just in case I’ve done something wrong.

What does love feel like?
Like becoming warm after you’ve been cold.

Which living person do you most despise, and why?
Andrew Tate. He’s winning over a lot of young men and with something that, deep down, I think he knows is foul and odious.
