  • A Eurasian beaver in a protected wetland area in Věšín, Czech Republic. Beavers have saved Czech taxpayers about £1m as they stole a march on the state in creating a planned wetland before excavators got the green light. “It’s full service,” said a Czech conservationist. “Beavers are absolutely fantastic and when they are in an area where they can’t cause damage, they do a brilliant job”

The project drafted in 2018 had a building permit but was delayed by talks over the land. But beavers did not care and started doing their natural job by building at least four dams.

The camera were originally set up to study beavers but instead were found to have been recording the wolves. In one clip, a black wolf and a gray wolf slowly crossed a stream in the forest, the water nearly up to their bellies, before they leap onto the bank. SAVE Wildlife Conservation Fund Poland is hoping to collect scat in the forest in the hopes of learning more about the black wolves’ genetics
