Murder detectives are investigating after a man believed to have been walking a dog past a house where a row had broken out was stabbed to death.

The 49-year-old man, named locally as Wayne Broadhurst, died in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, west London, in an incident when a man and a child were also stabbed.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Footage on social media showed a man being detained by police after being hit by a Taser. It followed officers shouting at a suspect to drop a knife, which he can be seen holding, and to get on the ground.

The Metropolitan police said officers were called at 5pm on Monday to a triple stabbing.

It is believed the man arrested was staying at the house and a row broke out.

Two other males, believed to be father and son, aged 45 and 14, were stabbed. Police said the older man’s injuries were “life-changing but not life-threatening”, while the boy’s injuries were “neither life-threatening nor life-changing”.

The attack is not being treated as terrorism, and detectives are working to establish any relationship between the suspect and the three victims, police said.

Ch Supt Jill Horsfall said: “This was a shocking and senseless act of violence that has left one man dead and two others injured. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.

“The incident will have understandably caused concern to the local community, I have deployed multiple officers to the local area, they will be here throughout the week to provide reassurance while detectives work intensely to piece together the circumstances.

“I understand that there has been a lot of speculation online following on from this incident; we ask that you rely on us for information, and that you do not share sensitive footage.”

Police said the 49-year-old victim’s family had been informed and were being supported by officers.

The Met confirmed that the man arrested was an Afghan national.

Government sources said he arrived in the UK on a lorry in 2020. In 2022 he was granted asylum and leave to remain.

The nationalities of the man killed and two injured males were not provided by police.

Robin Stevens, 50, said he heard sirens on Monday evening but did not find out what had happened until Tuesday morning. He said: “I grew up on this street, I’ve lived on this street for 50 years and I’ve always known it to be quite a family oriented area.”

Wisam Salah, 18, said the three stabbings, with one man losing his life, had affected local people adding: “Everyone is really panicked.”
